Taekwon-Do
Taekwon-Do is a version of unarmed combat
designed for the purpose of self defence.
It was founded in Korea on 11
April 1955 by General Choi Hong Hi. The
physical techniques of Taekwon-Do are based on the principles of modern
science, in particular, Newtonian physics which teaches us how to generate
maximum power.
"Taekwon" represents the physical aspects of the art and literally
means to smash with the foot, and to punch with the fist. Whilst "Do",
meaning "the way" represents the mental aspects and the way we conduct
ourselves; guided by the tenets of Taekwon-Do;
Courtesy
Integrity
Self Control
Perseverance
Indomitable Spirit
Both the physical and
mental aspects of Taekwon-Do are of equal importance. This is represented by the
separation of the two parts, "Taekwon" and "Do".
Through Taekwon-Do you will improve your physical
condition, learn effective techniques for self defence and develop a good
spirit. You will also benefit from increased flexibility, self
discipline, improved concentration, focus & confidence.
